Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will welcome David Tryggestad for an afternoon of worship through song with organ music on Sunday, April 15th at 1:30, with a coffee and dessert fellowship to follow. Mark your calendars now for a unique musical experience!
The Apostle Paul admonishes us to “sing psalms, hymn, and spiritual songs” to God in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. We gather together around some favorite hymns through the Seasons of the Church Year, some to be sung by the congregation, others by Pastor Scott Mann, with David Tryggestad offering organ settings of each.
David earned his Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity degrees from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees in organ performance at the University of Iowa, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in music education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He was a Fulbright scholar studying organ performance in Copenhagen, Denmark, for one year. He has performed organ concerts in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and England, as well as in the United States, and his concerts have been broadcast on Minnesota and Wisconsin Public Radio stations. He is a composer of music for
congregation, choir, and organ. His primary organ teachers include
