Christian formation is a life-long journey. Depending on one’s family background, it may begin at birth or at some other point in life. Confirmation class for current 6th grade students potentially represents one of those “life-marking moments” in which the student shifts from faith and God being something they do because their parents do it, to faith in Jesus as a personal choice and commitment. Adolescence is a huge time of change for students in almost every arena of their life – physically, socially, mentally and spiritually. The opportunity for students to begin to think deeply about God and His Word at this time in their life, in the context of church and home, is a goal of Confirmation classes.
