“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” ~Romans 12:6-8

Christ has created each of us as individuals offering different gifts to our family of faith. There is a special place at the table for each of us to serve Him – we are here to assist you in finding the perfect chair for you!

Our dedicated QUILTERS meet weekly from September through May. This time of fellowship and service provides the opportunity to tie over 200 quilts. These quilts are passed on to bless local families, while some are shipped overseas through Lutheran World Relief (see Outreach Ministries). This group ties together on Tuesday mornings in the Heritage Room.

As we encounter difficult events in our lives and the need of prayer and comfort arises, the PRAYER SHAWL ministry provides special gifts to our extended family at Gloria Dei. Also, when a new child is brought into our family of faith, they are presented with a baptismal blanket. Each prayer shawl and baptismal blanket is crafted by the creator on his or her own time, while the group may occasionally gather to knit and crochet as a group.

Our homebound members are visited by our CARE MINISTRY team who also brings them communion. This faithful group of volunteers shares the message and love of Jesus with those who are unable to gather with their church family.

Our PRAYER GROUP gathers each Thursday morning. They gather in the sanctuary to pray for our congregation, our leaders, our community, and our world. When an urgent prayer need arises, the PRAYER CHAIN is called upon to initiate the phone tree.

We make a joyful noise to the Lord each day through the use of MUSIC. Our team of organists and pianists extend an open invitation to those who have similar talents to join their group in providing music for our services. The Praise Team practices on Thursday evenings in September through May, leading our 10:30am Praise and Worship Service on Sunday mornings. Our choir gathers throughout the year to sing on special occasions which often include a Christmas or Easter Cantata performance. The congregation also looks forward to special music such as solos or duets at various services throughout the church year.

The MISSIONS TEAM works to educate the congregation in the area of mission needs within the congregation, community, country, and world. They enable the congregation to support various organizations through prayer, education, and donations of goods and monetary support.

Our weekly worship services are recorded and aired on the local Hagen Sports Network. This is made possible by our TECH TEAM who also manages the sound board and projection system. They are always looking for more members to join their team and share the fun and exciting world of technology. Beginners and experts alike are invited to join.

The women of Gloria Dei are encouraged to participate in SERVING GROUPS who assist with potlucks, funerals, and other special events hosted by the congregation. Leaders of various serving groups call upon congregation members to bring in a dish to pass for a special event or to help serve.

Throughout the year, social events are held (Ex: Tomah Timberwoves Tailgate, Packer-Viking Tailgate) to provide a time to spend with our Gloria Dei family. Our FELLOWSHIP TEAM works to plan these events.

We have been blessed with a beautiful property and building which allows us to be present within the community. The dedicated men and women of the PROPERTY COMMITTEE work together to care for and maintain the ins and outs of the building.

During Advent and Lent, SOUP SUPPERS are another anticipated time of fellowship. Groups can volunteer to host a soup supper and funds raised can be designated for a cause, event, or organization of their choice. (Ex: mission trip, special church events, youth trips, local nonprofit organizations)

WORSHIP LEADERS are called upon to assist the congregation through the avenues of lay readers, communion servers, ushers, and greeters. We also have the opportunity to provide worship services on a weekly basis at Liberty Village, a local assisted living home.

If you would like more information on any of these activities, please talk to Jackie Kiel, our Congregation Support Director, or call the church office.
